Your first visit to West Cactus Dental involves a few special steps so that we can get to know you. To understand what to expect, please read through this page. You'll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, payment policies and more. You can also save some time by printing out and completing the patient forms in advance of your appointment.

What To Expect

• Please be sure to bring a list of your current medications.
• Please fill out the forms above at home as most patients find it more comfortable to complete them accurately when they are not rushed.
• Our long time patients have learned through experience that our office runs on time. This may be contrary to your past experience. Please help us extend this courtesy to other patients after you by making sure that you arrive in plenty of time to use the restroom, get a drink of water, and answer any registration questions we may have prior to your appointed time with the dental team.
• If you are coming in for an emergency, we will concentrate on that area of your mouth causing you discomfort. A dignosis will be made, and if possible, treatment will be initiated.
• If you are coming in for your comprehensive initial examination as an adult new patient, then please read the following paragraph as to what you should expect at your visit:

Expect to spend 60 to 90 minutes in our office for this important fact gathering and interview process. After completing your medical history and other important registrationn forms, you will be given a short tour of our state-of-the-art dental office. If necessary, a complete set of painless, digital x-rays will be taken so Dr. Johnson can diagnose any diseases hidden in your bone, gums, or teeth. An oral cancer exam, periodontal (gum disease) screening, and tooth-by-tooth examination will complete the basic examination. Depending upon the diseases found, intraoral photographs and diagnostic models (impressions of your teeth) may be necessary to properly examine your mouth and bite. Upon completion of the data gathering portion, you and Dr. Johnson will have the opportunity to design a unique plan to address the diseases found. At that point, your plan will be printed out for your records and appointments made based upon your treatment decisions. Please note, you will not be getting your teeth cleaned at this appointment. As you leave this appointment, you will make an appointment for a later date to receive the proper gum treatment for your specific situation.
